Fantastic experience: The schoolstaff is really nice and compassionate to help students have the best stay possible. Especially the schools activities coordinator puts a lot of effort into creating special bonds with the students and he always has an open ear. I had a lovely time, thanks so much! I also want to thank David for being such amazing and always taking my concerns, even if they are very little, seriously and thinking about solutions. He also has a great Humor and has really influenced my stay at EF. I also want to give my special thanks to my general teacher Monika, she is an amazing teacher with the kindest soul. Marlene is also an extraordinary talented teacher with a pure heart, I had so much fun with her! Also Mathew and Andrew deserve a special mention as they are also amazing teachers.

Josh consistently goes above and beyond, always ready to help, answer questions, and make sure everyone feels included and has a great time. If you’re looking for an Activity Manager who is organized, passionate, and simply awesome, Josh is the one!

Fantastic experience: The activity coordinator Josh is amazing! The activities are super creative and he is always happy. He always helps us when we want to do an activity. He is even making a sauna and camping activity for us! By the way: David is also nice, he helped me get a job. I could not imagine a better activity coordinator.

Son personas que se preocupan del bienestar del estudiante, la comida es rica y realmente te hacen sentir parte de la familia (claramente, si tu convives de forma consciente con ellos) El personal de la institución (aun no hablando de profesores) es bastante atento a las necesidades del estudiante y el área (eg: no puedes ir a buscar a Darren (director académico) para preguntarle a profundidad sobre los clubes o actividades, que le corresponden a Joshua) David: Thank u so much for every day that u talked w me when I was alone. La mayoría son enérgicos con personalidades muy distintas de unos a otros, pero, de verdad que logran engacharte asi sea un poco mediante juegos, videos o proyectos Andrew: my FAVORITE teacher, I'm glad to had u as my business teacher for 12 weeks. I enjoyed every class with u (even I was scared of u the first class). U also saw my improvement at public (english) speech. U made me read since the first to the last class and it was a huge difference. Thank u profesor Cat: Oh wow, You were my C1.2 teacher for just 2 weeks (and half?), but u are very awesome, very funny, very everything. I enjoyed every game, every class, every outfit on the fashion show, how u articulate and the way u always made me smile when I was "disappointed" bout myself or worried bout leaving. Tysm, U will be always at my heart Matthew: Tysm for teaching me even though I was late EVERY MORNING CLASS KAJSNANS. Well, that was my fault but Im very grateful bout u as my teacher La gente de igual forma es muy amable y buena onda asi sean amigos o no. El respeto prospera y respecto al tema del lenguaje, EF es una empresa internacional, por ende si encontrarás personas que hablen tanto tu primera lengua o que hablen otro idioma. No esta mal juntarte con gente de tu misma habla, a veces uno necesita un descanso del inglés. Pero, esta de igual forma que NO se puede juzgar a EF por "no fomentan el inglés y hay muchas personas que hablan la misma lengua", pero al llegar suelen poner en regla el hablar inglés en todo momento. El método educativo GENERAL (no de cada profe) es buenísimo, a mi parecer, puesto a que se tienen libro que SI SE USAN y se va avanzando una unidad por semana, buscando que todos los alumnos vayan al mismo ritmo. Cada viernes se hace un proyecto que puede ir desde una disertación hasta preparar un show de moda. Y cada lunes se hace un test para ver que aprendiste la semana anterior. Un sistema que funcionó conmigo (pasé de nivel B2 a C1 en 12 semanas y teniendo en cuenta el hecho de que aqui recién vine a practicar de forma real el inglés) y espero funcione para los demás Gracias EF por 12 semanas de felicidad neta, los llevo siempre conmigo

Negative experience: Honestly, avoid this school. EF isn’t really a school, it’s a business. The course content isn’t bad, but it’s nowhere near worth the price : totally unacceptable. Teacher quality varies a lot: some were excellent (Cat for example), but others clearly lack the desire or skills to teach. Maybe it works for 20-year-olds or people who haven’t experienced the professional world, but for anyone else, it’s very disappointing. The building is clean, but the host families… mostly mediocre. They don’t tell you in advance that you usually can’t cook, even though lunch isn’t included. You can also end up with up to 5 students in the same family, which shows how commercial this setup really is. Worst part: if you’re French-speaking, stay away. The school is overloaded with French speakers, so immersion is almost impossible, and you end up speaking French most of the time, contrary to what’s promised. The atmosphere makes it hard to connect with other nationalities. Student support is “okay,” but it feels like they’re mostly just putting out fires without addressing real issues. That said, a huge thanks to David, the only staff member who showed true professionalism, listening skills, and a genuine human approach. There are many other schools in NZ that are much cheaper, more enjoyable, and genuinely immersive, so EF is really hard to recommend.

Negative experience: This school and program are unsuitable for those over 25. Most of the students are between 17 and 22 years old, the learning is very monotonous, and often delivered by people who speak English but lack the experience to teach effectively and explain things properly when you have questions. Your learning depends entirely on luck, which is incomprehensible for such a high price. If you are under 25 and still in school, this school might be suitable. If you are working and want to practice your English intensively, outside of a formal academic setting, look elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: Un sueño hecho realidad. Es mi primera experiencia con EF y con el aprendizaje de idiomas en el extranjero. Cuando llegué a Auckland estaba llena de miedos y dudas, pero gracias a la hermosa gente que compone el staff, me sentí contenida y perdí el miedo,,gané confianza y me anime a expresarme en inglés en la vida cotidiana, si bien no logré un nivel intermedio, fue por razones personales, ya que vine con mi hija y no le dediqué el tiempo necesario al estudio para lograr mejorarlo más.Estoy muy contenta con el método que utilizan en EF me parece excelente, así como también el equipo docente y en lo que a mí respecta, tengo muchas ganas de volver a hacer la experiencia, tal vez en otro destino Nuevamente, agradezco mucho al staff por haberme permitido llevar a mi hija Y por todo el cariño y contención que también recibió ella.

Fantastic experience: Even though my journey only lasted 4 weeks, I had the time of my life. I made so many friends, great memories and found so much joy that I never knew I could experience.. I can only recommend going to Auckland with EF. They take great care of the students, console you when you feel homesick, take you to a good doctor when you're feeling unwell and they have the best school environment. The activities were a great experience and I found many friends through the fun things we did! 10/10 would recommend for everyone!!

Fantastic experience: Ich besuchte die Schule für sechs Wochen im Frühling 2025. Es war eine tolle Zeit. Meine Gastfamilie war sehr nett, hilfsbereit und zuvorkommend. Ich hatte ein schönes Zimmer und das Essen war sehr gut. Die Schule befindet sich direkt am Hafen. Die Klassenzimmer sind modern und die Infrastruktur gut. Das Personal ist sehr nett und die Lehrer ebenfalls. In der Umgebung befinden sich viele Restaurants, Bars. Einkaufszentren usw. Es gibt viele cool Aktivitäten welche mit oder ohne die Schule gemacht werden können. Es war eine tolle Zeit und ich empfehle allen die Schule EF Auckland weiter.

Negative experience: ホームステイガチャが酷すぎる。4ヶ月ほど滞在しましたがホームステイ先のご飯が不味く変更希望を出しても変更先がないと3週間言われ続けました。授業はグループしかないので英語初心者にはちょっとしんどいかも。また、下のクラスは日本人しかいないので英語が上達しない。日本人と関わらないようにしてる人も居たがほぼ不可能。ニュージーランド留学を検討してる人がいたらよく考えて自分のレベルが低いならフィリピン等英語教育が熱心なところに行くべき。

Negative experience: J’ai pu effectuer un séjour de 4 semaines à Auckland, avec l’organisme EF. Je ne vous recommande absolument pas de partir avec EF ou de laisser vos enfants partir avec EF. Il y a un grand manque de transparence avant le départ ce qui est vraiment dommage venant d’une aussi grande enseigne. Les activités sont hors de prix et celles qui sont « gratuites » ne sont pas réellement des activités. J’ai effectué plus de la moitié de mon séjour dans une classe de 11 élèves, dont 8 étaient français. Ce qui ne favorise absolument pas la concentration et l’évolution. J’ai réglé un séjour pour 80h de cours, je n’en ai eu que 68h. J’ai donc contacté l’agence qui me laisse sans aucune réponses depuis maintenant 12jours, malgré plusieurs relances. Je suis une étudiante seule, très loin de mon domicile et EF n’a aucun scrupule à nous faire payer des sommes astronomiques, pour ne même pas nous faire bénéficier de la totalité des heures réglées. Je trouve vraiment cela inadmissible et très grave. Il existe énormément d’organismes bien plus correct. Je ne recommande sous aucun prétexte.

Fantastic experience: Mon expérience au sein de l’école EF Auckland était tout simplement incroyable. Malgré le fait que j’y sois resté seulement 3 semaines, mais en si peu de temps j’ai pu faire de nouvelles rencontres avec des étudiants du monde entier. L'équipe ainsi que les enseignants étaient bienveillant, très aidant et toujours à l’écoute. J’ai pu participer à certaines activités, j’ai pu découvrir la ville d’Auckland et ses environs. Je n’oublie pas de mentionné Imelda, ma famille d’accueil qui a été comme ma grand-mère et toujours au petit soin avec moi et ma colocataire. C’était une expérience vraiment riche et unique, je tiens à remercier chacun et chacune d’entre vous pour ses 3 semaines passés avec vous. Je vous avoue aussi que j’ai très très envie de revenir. Je vous recommanderai à la jeunesse et ainsi qu’à tous ceux qui veulent apprendre l’anglais. Bonne continuation et prenez soin de vous ^^ De chaleureux bisous de ma petite île perdu dans le pacifique.

Negative experience: superiors who lack serious professionalism, look down on students and lack respect. In addition, the school lacks serious organization and a lack of seriousness. I advise you not to come. They do not listen and will leave you in your misery.

Fantastic experience: Very good location for language purpose. Well organised, motivated staff and the director’s door is always open. And not too large, which is positiv, since large organisations tend to care more about their efficiency than the needs of the students.And if you are very lucky, the weather is not too rainy or windy.

Negative experience: The experience with this school was extremely terrible, the host houses does not have the standards that you expect to receive. They are so far from the school, the schedules are absurd, the teachers teach you with YouTube videos that you can watch at home without paying for it, additional the students assistant is very bad and the follow-up of the host houses simply is the worst I’ve ever seen in my life. I’m still waiting for the refund of the amount I didn’t use for the transfer from the host house to the airport. As every process will surely be ignored. Any way if you are thinking improve or learn English please double check. New Zealand got a lot of good school options don’t waste your money with this school.

Negative experience: The bullying I suffered here left me traumatized and I even received rude treatment from a male teacher, which caused me severe depression.

Fantastic experience: My experience with EF in Auckland has been wonderful and super interesting, one of the best I had in my life. I enjoyed the school, the lessons and the activities, and I felt really good with the staff and my schoolmates. I also enjoyed the staying at my host family, Rebecca and Graeme have been super kind and available, and it’s been a huge pleasure to me to be hosted by them. It was all definitely worth it.

Negative experience: Three weeks before finishing and returning to Spain, I want to share my experience with this school. It is not bad, but it is also not among the best in New Zealand. The host family I was assigned to was one of the worst: it was an hour and twenty minutes away from the school, in a very poor area of Auckland. The food was awful, my room was cold, the dogs were relieving themselves in the bathroom I shared with my roommate, and I had to deal with the family's bipolarity. Additionally, they wanted me to cook for them once a week. The kitchen was full of dirty dishes and pots every day, and there were flies. After two months, the school changed my host family, and my life took a 180-degree turn. I was moved to the North, where the true New Zealanders live, and the quality of life improved in every aspect. The downside of the EF school is that they do not supervise the host families. If several students complain, they should terminate the contract with the problematic family and ensure that there are no distances greater than 45 to 50 minutes. Unfortunately, they do whatever they want with the students. Another negative point about the school is the variable quality of the teachers; half of them do not teach well. However, New Zealand is a wonderful country, and I am delighted with its people, who are very friendly. Fantastic experience: EF auckland was alright but my host family was THE BEST! I had such a great time staying with Rebecca and Graeme, they really are so sweet and caring about their host students. You could talk to them about everything and I felt so welcomed by them. The dinners were very delicious and their cat Marzi was sooo soft and cute. The house is located between Sylvia Park and Panmure station so that’s very convenient for going to school and shopping. I would love to stay with them again and will keep in touch for sure, they really elevated my stay in Auckland

Fantastic experience: I had a great time in New Zealand. My language course at the EF language school in Auckland was a really good experience. The school is very centrally located in the city of Auckland and easily accessible. The lessons were varied and the teachers were all really friendly. I met lots of great new people from all over the world and the school offered a wide range of fun activities to do. I was extremely happy with my host family. Rebecca and Graeme Higham are very lovely people and take really good care of their students. They have a lovely house with nice rooms in a great neighbourhood near a lagoon. Thank you very much again for the great hosting and the lovely time with you, which I will never forget.

Negative experience: Terrible company! My host mother hits me and the company doesn't care at all. No help, no money, no support. Avoid this place and company!! Some teachers are nice, but many students just speak their native languages and no one stops them. So on the lessons I have heard more French and Spanish than English and it is hard to make friends (if you don't speak French or Spanish). Now, 3 months after that horrible day and 3 days before I'm leaving, are they trying to persuade me to change this review. Pathetic behavior.

Negative experience: "Decidí hacer un cambio e irme al Nueva Zelanda para aprender inglés y conocer gente. Me pasé por la oficina de Madrid y Laura fue encantadora, me explico cada una de mis dudas y al final me convenció. Llevo ya dos semanas aquí y estoy encantada de haber tomado la decisión " Este fue mi primer comentario a las dos semanas de llegar, ya que era Embassador como la mayoría de la gente que pone 5 estrellas al programa de EF, pero después de 5 meses aquí he descubierto que esta empresa no es una buena idea para aprender inglés. Los comerciales venden muchas cosas QUE LUEGO NO SON CIERTAS: - Compañeras de habitación de habla no hispana para poder comunicarme en inglés y así mejorar de forma diaria, pero he tenido una compañera chilena y dos ecuatorianas. - Clases entretenidas y de calidad. En cambio, son clases aburridas, monótonas y sin la más mínima preparación. Los profesores están desmotivados y durante las 22 semanas que he estado no creo que haya adquirido el nivel que se me prometió. Al final del curso entregan un certificado de nivel que en mi opinión no se acerca ni de lejos a la realidad ya que suben de nivel a pesar de no haber aprobado el Progress Test. Igual que mi caso, el de muchos de los alumnos de la escuela. Te prometen que los profesores serán nativos, pero al final tres de ellos eran de habla hispana (chilenos) y obviamente tenían acento español a la hora de hablar. En caso de querer que una persona de habla hispana me dé clase, me hubiese quedado en España, pagando considerablemente menos y sin necesidad de estar en una casa que no es mía. Además, otro de los profesores no tenía título de profesor, era una persona alemana que incluso le corregían los alumnos. - Bolsa de empleo y ayuda para encontrar trabajo a las pocas semanas de llegar, si eso es lo que quería. En cambio, desde que he estado aquí, no he recibido ni la más mínima ayuda por su parte. - Grupo "Adultos y profesionales (25 + años)" pero la media de edad de los estudiantes es de 18-20 años. Por tanto, si eres adulto tampoco te recomiendo esta escuela. - Las clases de perfeccionamiento o de interés especial (SPIN CLASS). Son bastantes superfluas, no hay conferencias y los proyectos a final de semana no ayudan a perfeccionar el nivel de inglés ni sentir más confianza a la hora de hablar en público. Por ejemplo, el último proyecto fue pintar con rotulador durante dos horas una ciudad y explicarla al final de la clase. Creo que no es lo que se espera de un curso especializado y de calidad. - NO CONTRATEIS EL SEGURO ERIKA. Después de pagar 650€ por el seguro, tiene franquicia y para una vez que lo necesite no me pareció de calidad. Existen otros seguros como Southern cross, Chapka, IATI mil veces más baratos, sin franquicia y que tienen más consultas médicas asociadas. - Familias: yo tuve la increíble suerte de caer en una casa buena donde la familia me cuida, me da de comer y me siento como en mi casa, pero el 90% de la gente se cambia entre 2-5 veces de casa porque las familias les tienen a pan y agua, les cronometran el tiempo para ducharse, hablan en su idioma natal y no practicas el inglés... Asique a la hora de enviar a vuestros hijos a esta experiencia, pensarlo mejor y buscar otra compañía que se haga ocupe mejor de ellos.

Positive experience: Man lernt an diesem Ort zahlreiche Leute und Kulturen aus der ganzen Welt kennen, was mich total glücklich macht und man mit gefühlt jedem der Schule schnell ins Gespräch kommt und sich austauschen kann, vor allem auf Englisch ist das Ganze gewinnbringend. Persönlich hab ich mich dafür entschieden, hierher zu kommen, da Auckland der einzige Kursort von EF ist, wo man die Möglichkeit hat, Aviation English zu lernen. Die Aktivitäten mit EF sind nicht günstig, aber man ist prinzipiell sicherer wie wenn man es auf eigene Faust macht. Es ist alles geplant und man hat Ansprechpartner dabei und meist einen Tourguide.

Positive experience: ニュージーランドのオークランドでとても良い留学体験ができました。先生はとてもフレンドリーでかつ，世界各国から生徒が集まってくるので国際色豊かな環境で過ごせる留学になりました。 ただ，友人の多くは宿泊に対して不満を持っているように感じました。僕はいいホームステイ先に割り当てられたし，人によるところはあるのですが，一部のホストファミリーは衛生面に問題のある部屋を生徒に与えていたようです。 また学生寮も，同じ値段を払っているにも関わらず，全く質の違う建物のどちらかに割り当てられる形らしく，一方は建物の古さや衛生面，もう一方と比べてかなり学校から遠いことなど，多くの不満点があるということでした。 他の留学先のことはわからないですが，少なくともオークランドでは，唯一宿泊に課題があるように感じました。一方で多くの生徒は，どうせ一ヶ月くらいなら我慢できる，というように考えてスタッフに強く申し入れることはなく，また，すでに友達が一緒に住んでいる建物から1人出て行くくらいならと，しぶしぶ住んでいたりするようでした。 なので，もう少し生徒からのヒアリングを充実させ，せっかく高いお金を払っているのでそれに見合ったサービスを提供していただきたいと思います。 ただ，宿泊以外に関しては本当に良かったですし，結局人によってケースも変わってくるので，少なくとも僕の留学体験としては文句なしでした。

Positive experience: 先生もクラスメイトもフレンドリーです。ただ先生との相性は人によりけりです。授業自体は楽しいですが、中級クラスまではクラスの半分以上が日本人です。建物は狭めで人気なクラスは教室が窮屈に感じます。 近くにはショッピングモールやバー、ジムがあり便利です。ただ中心地なので値段は高めです。 学校が紹介してくれるホストファミリーはイマイチ。通勤時間が2時間の人もいるし、食事も口に合わないと言う人が多いです。

Positive experience: Super expérience. J'ai fait EF Auckland Les professeurs sont très biens. Tu te fais aussi beaucoup d'amis étrangers avec qui tu discutes en anglais. C'est aussi comme ça que l'on progresse. Faites vous des amis, échangez en anglais,sortez de vitre confort. Si vous avez des doutes, les professeurs sont là pour vous aider à vous améliorer Il y a beaucoup d'activités, dommage que certaines activités soient limités. Par exemple, je n'ai pas pu avoir ma place lors d'une activité sur 4 jours. Le quota était atteint.

I am going to summarize all the wonderful things that I have experienced and continue to live in this incredible country, I met many special people from all over the world.❤️ I chose this destination also because they gave me the opportunity to work and do you know anything? I did it! I had a job in a restaurant and thanks to that I got more experience. But the most extraordinary thing for me was working at the school as an intern student that has been the most exciting thing I could do here. Also, I have known beautiful paradises that New Zealand has , I am very happy to continue here and above all because my English has improved in a surprising way. And you, what are you waiting for to make the best decision in your life? don't be afraid and just do it.

Negative experience: such an awful experience ! . Teachers go very quick and don't focus a lot on team work. The homes chosen by EF are located more than 1 hour by public transit. Not worth the price. It is such a scam ! All activities are not included even the activities mentioned that EF mentioned free. I asked to change host family as soon as possible because the first host family was awful non hygienic food was gross and the house was dirty and had bugs in the house the room was dirty and humid it was so bad that i asked to be changed now they said we don't change like this so I complained the next day and they finally accepted it. I had to pay $300 to get a new host family. Also paying extra for meals that are included in the price. I went with EF twice before and it was good. I will never go with EF anymore such a horrible experience. I always wanted to go to new Zealand and EF made this trip who costed more than 5k€ a real nightmare. The best award for scam abroad goes to EF. The program is not high end and there is miss advertising because they lie on what is included. EF is more like budget holidays but with expensive price tags.

Fantastic experience: This is the best experience I could ever have the staff is the coolest and nice people also all the teachers are great and they explain you every doubt that you could have. I got the hosfamily plan and it was amazing they were warming and very kind with me. Everyone is looking after you and this totally reach my standards. And also they had a perfect management quality. I recommend 100% percent.

Negative experience: Advice from a New Zealander living in Auckland. Avoid sending your children to New Zealand in a home stay situation. We have awful housing standards (moulding, cold damp homes), and our government is struggling to ensure education provider's are offering quality education. It's a big problem in New Zealand, they see this as a source of income and not a responsibility. And typically 1 in 2 New Zealanders are financially struggling, so they probably couldn't afford to look after themselves, nevermind an additional mouth to feed. Until New Zealand sorts out it's socioeconomic issues, I would suggest avoiding homestay situations all together. It's probably better to learn English in Australia or Canada.

Fantastic experience: Estudié Inglés de forma intensiva, por un semestre con EF en Auckland, Nueva Zelanda en el 2018. Fue la mejor experiencia de mi vida!!! El edificio de la escuela es hermoso, en pleno Auckland CBD y el personal es amistoso y siempre dispuestos a ayudarte en todo, (tanto EF Argentina como EF Auckland) Me alojé en casa de familia, donde recibia desayuno y cena preparados por Sunita, mi HostMom y tambien vivi en la Residencia EF con 19 chicos de todo el mundo. La escuela superó todas mis expectativas y hoy tengo amigos en todo el mundo ! Si bien no es barato, es la mejor inversión que podría haber hecho, llegue a un nivel C2 (Proficiency) y hoy en dia puedo competir por mejores oportunidades laborales y proyectarme internacionalmente. GRACIAS EF !

Negative experience: 429/5000 I sent my son from Chile to study, but the assigned family is a disaster with house with alarming disorder, the room is a warehouse, the bathroom inoperative, the food is garbage. In addition, they do not comply with the commitments that the time assigned to the home and the institute does not exceed 45 minutes. In addition, on Saturday and Sunday no one answers at the institute, no one is responsible and the risk is assumed by the student alone.

Negative experience: EF's teacher is ok. But the accommodation is terrible! Most of the host families are Indian immigrants, you must not expect that you can practice your English with them. I am a girl, but I was arranged in a family which lived four men(a husband, two adult boys and a 15 years boy). It's very inconvienient. Sometimes they use our toilet and doesn't flush it, sometimes they hold a party in the midnight beside our room. My host family will never support enough food, and they never cook anything over the weekend even though my costs include weekends foods. And what's more, one day when I came back, I found all my cloth were thrown on the dirty carpet in the living room, incloude my pajamas and bra, and I lost my bag. I told those situations to EF's staff, they just told me if I want to change family I need to find another family by myself. Most of my classmate who lived in accomdation have the bad experiences too. They rarely clean bedrooms ,and two of my classmates were bitten by bite-bug! Overall, it was a terrible experience, and I'll never suggest any of my friend to choose this campus.

Negative experience: Education First scam on study abroad! In master management to EM Lyon, i've had the misfortune to choose EF (education first) for a study abroad two months in New Zealand. My goal was to prepare the test TOEIC . On the paper i'd bought a stay for adults, professional and framework (+25 years) with housing homestay for good work English. Result: 1. No preparation TOEIC 2. Class crowded with teenage 13 to 20 years 3. Homestay horrible in the family where I have had to reside (lack food, prohibition to use the kitchen and fridge, prohibition out the business of my suitcase, wake up every day at 4:30 am ...) 4. family who spoke Hindi and non-English. At my return, when I have written EF to request damages suffered they have not not deigned answer, when I have raised by phone they simply said they said no compensation and denied any problem. I'm not a isolated case, some of my colleagues there low were housed by EF in House infested of harmful (cockroaches, mouse, bed bugs ..) other had to sleep outside in the garden home because the family refused to open the door when they returned in the evening (before midnight) I share with you this horrible experience so it can at least serve you if one day you are looking for a study abroad. EF -> flee !!!!

Fantastic experience: If you have the chance to go I definitely recommend it! The teachers are great and you will have a lot of fun, but I wouldn't recommend staying for too long because the same activities and classes happen routinely and the host families generally aren't great.
